Nokia have officially announced the release of their E90 Communicator handset on the opening day of the 3GSM World Congress 2007 event in Barcelona.

The new device comes in as the successor of the old Nokia 9500 communicator phone and is part of their new E-Series range of business devices which includes the Nokia E65 and Nokia E61i.

The new Nokia E90 Communicator

The Nokia E90 is a side opening clamshell and comes with QWERTY keyboard and large 4 inch 800×352 pixel screen to allow full screen browsing without the need to scroll the page.  Judging on first impressions, the E90 looks a bit of beast, and I’m proven correct with dimensions of 132 x 57 x 20mm and a weight at a whopping 210g!

With the phone closed, you’ll find a standard numeric keypad with soft keys and a 16M colour QVGA display similar to those in other Nokia S60 phones.

There is also a 3.2 megapixel camera with auto focus and a second camera for video calls.  We also understand the E90 has built-in GPS and Nokia Maps software.
